Our commitment
This site is built to meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines version 2.2 at level AA. We think it currently does, with the caveats below.
What we have done
- Text and interface colours meet or exceed the AA contrast ratios throughout
- Every function is reachable and operable with a keyboard alone
- Focus is always visible, with a high contrast focus ring
- A skip link is the first thing in the tab order on every page
- Headings follow a real hierarchy rather than being chosen for size
- Images carry descriptive alternative text, and decorative ones are hidden from assistive technology
- Form fields have persistent labels above them, not placeholder text standing in for a label, and errors are announced
- All motion is disabled for anyone who has set a reduced motion preference
- Text reflows to a single column and remains usable at 400 per cent zoom
Photography and information
The photography on this site is atmospheric in role rather than informational. Every image carries alternative text describing the scene, and all information on the site is carried in text, so the full content of every page is available to assistive technology independently of the images.
